Make Peace With Life

Person on a colorful mountain top

Make Peace With Life

What if the meaning of life isn’t something you find…
but something you learn to make peace with?

In Making Peace With Life, Dr. Rob Alex takes you on a deeply human, refreshingly honest, and surprisingly humorous journey through the chaos, beauty, heartbreak, energy, and wonder of being alive.

This isn’t a book about chasing perfection.
It’s about embracing the full spectrum — the ups, the downs, the middle ground, the transitions, the questions, the endings, and the beginnings.

Inside these pages you’ll explore:

  • Why there is no real “finish line” in life — and why that’s good news
  • How life’s hardest moments often become your greatest teachers
  • The metaphysical energy that connects you to every other life on the planet
  • Why your life is both a tiny drop… and an entire universe
  • How music, memories, impact, and love glue everything together
  • Why asking better questions may matter more than finding answers
  • How to stop defining yourself by age, status, or comparison
  • And why your life has unlimited value — even when you forget it does

Blending psychology, personal development, metaphysical insight, and everyday humor, Dr. Rob Alex writes like the friend who hands you cosmic wisdom and a high-five at the same time.

This book will not give you all the answers.
It will give you something far more powerful:

Permission to breathe.
Permission to question.
Permission to adjust.
Permission to live fully.

And most importantly —
Permission to make peace with life exactly as it is… while still growing into what it can become.

If you’re ready to stop racing and start living —
This book is for you.

Courageous Communication: The conversations corrections leaders keep putting off

 Two Correctional Offices Talking

Courageous Communication:
The conversations corrections leaders keep putting off

Avoiding difficult conversations can undermine accountability, morale and operational readiness

Every supervisor has a conversation they’re avoiding: the slipping report writer, the disengaged veteran, the two officers who stopped speaking. This article argues that putting those talks off slowly wears down accountability, morale and readiness until a small issue becomes a grievance, a use-of-force review or a resignation. It gives practical guidance on setting a calm tone before tension rises, giving feedback that develops rather than punishes, earning the respect that makes correction land, stepping into conflict early, and holding standards consistently, including with the people you like most. A real mentorship story shows what coaching looks like in practice. The core message is that leaders are judged by whether their people leave better than they arrived.

The Witness

Man with finger up to mouth in a shhhh way

The Witness

I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU COULD SEE HIM.

Maren Voss takes things out of rooms for a living. From a spare bedroom in Van Nuys she lassoes laundry baskets and single running shoes out of real-estate photos, until each house looks like nobody was ever sad there. In a rental in Glendale, in the middle of June, she takes out a long wool coat hanging on the back of a door.

Her sister Nat sat in their mother's hospital room for five weeks. Maren came twice, and the second time she left at four in the afternoon for a delivery. She still hasn't called Nat back.

On the drive home she stops at an empty red light. Across the road, in a bank drive-through, a man is standing with his arms at his sides. The clearance bar crosses him at the chest. It reads 8 FT 6 IN.

He is looking at her.

"Looking's free," a stranger tells her through the glass.

His face is the one Nat wore in that room, sorry and settled in to stay until it's over.

Book one of a trilogy.

From There to Here and Beyond: Evidence of Spiritual Warfare

  Woman Walking Down a Road

By: Constance ‘Destiny’ Johnson

Some journeys are not about escaping the past, but discovering what can still be built beyond it.

A memoir can do more than recount what happened. At its most meaningful, it can give language to experiences readers may have struggled to understand and show how a life shaped by hardship can continue to change. That is the territory Destiny B. Sincere explores in From There to Here and Beyond: Evidence of Spiritual Warfare.

The book begins with memories of family, church, childhood security, and belonging before that stability gradually fractures. Alcoholism, domestic violence, abuse, damaged self-worth, difficult relationships, and destructive choices become part of a much larger journey. Rather than presenting those experiences as isolated episodes, the memoir considers how early wounds can follow a person into adulthood and influence the way that person understands love, identity, faith, and purpose.

That perspective gives the book particular relevance today. Conversations about trauma, generational patterns, accountability, and emotional well-being have become increasingly visible. Sincere approaches these subjects through an explicitly Christian lens, interpreting the unseen struggles behind her experiences as evidence of spiritual warfare. Yet the memoir does not stop at what wounded her. Its direction steadily shifts toward what changed her.

The progression itself is telling. Chapters move through being Safe, Shattered, and Stripped. Then toward Struggle, Surrender, Salvation, Sanctification, and finally Surrender Daily. That structure turns the memoir into more than a record of survival. It becomes an examination of transformation as an ongoing process.

One of its most relatable ideas is that meaningful change requires more than simply wanting different circumstances. Sincere distinguishes outward reform from inward transformation and reflects on learning to recognize mistakes, take responsibility, change patterns, and “grow through” challenges rather than merely endure them.

That message carries significance beyond one life story. In a society where people can be quickly defined by their worst decisions, family history, or painful experiences, this memoir offers another possibility: a person’s past can be acknowledged without being allowed to dictate the future. Within Sincere’s faith, surrender to God becomes the turning point that makes restoration, purpose, and service to others possible.

What if where someone has been is not the final measure of where that life can go?

For readers drawn to candid memoirs about faith, adversity, personal responsibility, and spiritual renewal, Constance ‘Destiny’ Johnson journey offers a story worth discovering.

Deep Core Industries

   Futuristic Generator with lightning

Deep Core Industries

Deep Core Industries is a science-fiction tabletop role-playing game, set in the 24th century and extending into the 38th century. By the 24th century, humanity had expanded throughout the Solar System by terraforming worlds, establishing orbital habitats, and engaging in extensive mining. To endure extreme environments and isolated deep-space conditions, humanity developed advanced cybernetics, robotics, genetic engineering, and artificial intelligence. These advancements led to the creation of various specialized populations: engineered Canids and Felari, broad populations of Geneborn descendants, autonomous Androids, heavily augmented Cyborgs, and Holograms whose personalities are sustained via expensive Holographic Cores.
Centuries of relentless expansion eventually drained the Solar System's viable natural resources, sparking a critical energy and material crisis. In response, major governments and private corporations united under Deep Core Industries (DCI) to construct the Dark Nebula—a massive, five-mile-long mining and exploration vessel housing over 1,700 crew members. Operating in opposition to DCI's monopoly, corporate rivals like the Atlas Resource Consortium (ARC) engaged in espionage, tech theft, and sabotage against DCI operations. Built in the Kuiper Belt, the Dark Nebula launched in the year 3779 on an FTL journey to the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Arriving in 3784, the diverse crew of biological, cybernetic, and digital specialists is awakened from stasis to secure humanity's survival by establishing mining operations, recovering resources, and scanning for terraformable planets. The core mechanics of the game rely on a roll-under 2d6 system. Characters calculate a Target Number by combining a specific Attribute score with a Skill score.

To succeed, players must roll equal to or lower than their Target Number on 2d6. The dice rolled are categorized as a Boon die and a Bane die. Rolling low leads to success, while generating Boon tokens for the players or Bane tokens for the Game Master (referred to as the AI) depending on which die shows the higher result.

Players can spend Boon tokens to adjust Target Numbers or advance their stats between game sessions. The AI uses accumulated Bane tokens to introduce sudden environmental hazards, plot complications, and narrative obstacles.
